Nozzle
Merré shipyard is one of the few French shipyards that builds itself the nozzles that equip ships leaving its workshops.
Nozzles have their applications whenever the thrust must be maximum at relatively low hull speeds.
The case of tugs is one of the most common applications, but low-speed trawlers, too, need nozzles, as do many other service vessels.
The main advantage of the nozzle is that it increases the thrust of the propeller.
A nozzle propeller offers about 25 % more total thrust than the same helix alone.
The performance of a nozzle lies in the quality and geometric accuracy of its realization; and that's where the "plus" of the nozzles built by the Merré shipyard.
The other benefits are:
- Reduction of the diameter of the helix;
- Reduction of the diameter of the propeller shaft and the stern tube;
- Vibration reduction;
- Reduce the pitch of the vessel in rough water;
- Increased propeller thrust during towing and traction at the fixed point;
- Increasing the speed of the vessel;
- Better performance of heavily loaded propellers, especially in shallow waters;
- Reduced fuel consumption.
Whether you are shipowner, shipyard or propeller manufacturer, do not hesitate to contact us. We will meet your need for a nozzle, even of very large size.
